Dike, Iowa
This 255 acre Grundy County Park was created as a result of the Iowa DOT needing a borrow pit for the new Highway 20 road construction adjacent to the site. The Grundy County Conservation Board hired RKLA to create a master plan for the park, including the 40-acre lake and additional property that then became excess right-of-way for the highway. The master plan was then used by INRCOG and Grundy County to apply for what turned out to be a successful REAP grant for the property purchase from the Iowa DOT. The GCCB hired RKLA to provide detailed construction documents for the 61-site modern campground including site layout, grading, and coordination of power supplies to the campsites. The Master Plan has been implemented and the park has become the premier park in Grundy County, with hard-surfaced trails, an RV campground, fishing jetties and a public hunting area. The project has been the recipient of numerous grants including REAP, trail grants, and a CAT grant for the development of the campground.
