Craig Ritland, FASLA

Craig Ritland, founder of Ritland+Kuiper Landscape Architects, has over 50 years of experience in all phases of landscape architecture including campus and community master planning, site development planning, and detailed site design work. He is well known for participating on multi-disciplinary teams to achieve common goals with creative solutions. Over the years, Mr. Ritland has earned several design and service awards. In recognition of the quality of landscape architectural services he has provided to clients throughout his career, he was inducted as a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects, one of the highest accomplishments that one can receive in the profession. He is widely regarded for the scale and depth of work he has produced, from park and campus master plans to urban streetscapes and site design to residential projects.

Mark Kuiper, ASLA, LEED AP

With over 20 years of experience in projects around the country, Mark has been involved in a diverse array of landscape developments including transportation improvements, educational facilities, corporate campuses, and athletic facilities. He provides a comprehensive range of design and construction management services to our clients. His background in civil engineering and diverse experience gives him the ability to apply a wide variety of technologies in the industry, including irrigation systems, sports fields, and storm water systems. His interest in water quality and sustainable design led him to become accredited as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) professional. Mark has several leadership roles in his local church and enjoys playing (and watching) sports with his two sons and working with horses on a small farm with his wife, Shonda.

Samantha Price, ASLA

Samantha has more than a decade of experience in all facets of landscape architecture with a diverse portfolio including playgrounds, parks and recreation planning, urban design, streetscape revitalization, healthcare campus planning and trail and water trail design. Her background includes work focusing on community led design and public participation. Samantha has developed a leadership position within the office and creates most of the office’s computer rendered graphics and 3D renderings. She also manages our summer interns, teaching students valuable insight for creating image edits, graphics, maps, and layout, sharpening their skill sets for school and beyond. Samantha enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and daughters and tending to the ever growing number of animals on her family’s hobby farm.

Mallory Sage

Mallory, a native of Waterloo, Iowa, graduated from Iowa State University in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture and a minor in sustainability. She began working with RKLA as an intern in the summer of 2020 and rejoined the staff in 2024. As an emerging professional, Mallory is interested in participatory, community-driven design that prioritizes sustainability and practicality. In addition to her part-time role at RKLA, she serves as a community engagement coordinator for the Tallgrass Prairie Center at the University of Northern Iowa. Outside of work, Mallory enjoys gardening and biking.
