U.S. Highway 63 Corridor Enhancements
Our firm was hired as part of a multi-disciplinary team for this extensive project designed to improve circulation within and through the city while revitalizing neighborhoods throughout this heavily traveled corridor. For some of the corridor, city right-of-way purchases created an opportunity for realignment of the roadway, thereby improving traffic safety and providing additional greenspace as a buffer for the
highway. A design charette process gathered input from corridor residents, neighborhood associations, business owners, and other stakeholders and served as a guide in the
design of greenspace developments, parks, bike path connections, specialty pavements, and artistic elements. New community gateway features and a park-like landscape theme were developed to enhance vehicular connection to
RITLAND+KUIPER has provided multi-phase construction documents and construction related services for allenhancement elements along the roadway including brick paving, limestone monuments, site furnishings, interpretive
signage, and plantings. Construction is anticipated to be completed in 2018.
