Rural Community Enhancement Planning
Featuring McGregor, Iowa
RITLAND+KUIPER Landscape Architects has completed almost 50 community enhancement projects through the Iowa Community Visioning Program. This program is a joint venture between the Iowa Department of Transportation, Iowa State University, and Trees Forever.
Many of the small community improvement projects we have been involved with have included a planning process called Visioning that encourages strategic thinking about potential landscape improvements. The center piece of this process is the development of a conceptual landscape plan that graphically illustrates the vision of community leaders and volunteers.
Examples of completed community projects include a park in Fairbanks, a restored firehouse retrofitted into a unique park shelter in Conrad, gateway signage and landscaping on Highway 3 in Shell Rock, pedestrian underpass in Hudson, trailhead, park and trail in Tripoli, and streetscape improvements in Colfax.
